Surgical approach

Always with the aim of enhancing patient comfort

Since he first started his medical academic career, Dr. Laflamme has dedicated much of his time to clinical research, aiming to improve the quality of care for his patients. Thanks to his creative thinking abilities, he developed several new surgical techniques to optimize clinical outcomes while minimizing complications. He also developed a new technology, the Y3 plate, specifically designed to stabilize periprosthetic hip fractures. Always with the goal of improving patient care, he was among the first in Quebec to use minimally invasive surgical approaches for joint replacements. As early as 2017 he implemented the ERAS program (enhanced recovery after surgery), which aims to reduce the stress response to surgery and speed up patient recovery after a hip or knee replacement.
